Review of Philips Respironics SimplyGo portable oxygen concentrator (POC): ✅ Prices ✅ Reviews ✅ Specs: delivery method, weight, battery.

Philips Respironics makes breathing and respiratory care machines in three different categories – Home oxygen systems, portable oxygen concentrators, and stationary oxygen concentrators. In the portable category, I reviewed the SimplyGo Mini and this is the higher-performing model Philips Respironics has in offer.

The SimplyGo is supposed to be Philips Respironics’ answer to the majority of patient. It has large oxygen output, and it is small and light to be carried around (using a custom bag or trolley).

Oxygen Flow

As opposed to many machines I review SimplyGo has a continuous and pulse oxygen flow. The dual functionality is critical for cordless use.

Continuous flow has 4 preset settings:

  • 0.5 l/min
  • 1 l/min
  • 1.5 l/min
  • 2 l/min

Pulse flow has preset settings with different bolus size:

  • 1=12 ml,
  • 1.5=18 ml
  • 2=24 ml,
  • 2.5=30 ml
  • 3=36 ml
  • 3.5=42 ml,
  • 4=48 ml
  • 4.5=54 ml
  • 5=60 ml,
  • 5.5=66 ml
  • 6=72 ml

Oxygen Purity

The oxygen purity ranged between 87 and 96%. It is the same for both the continuous and pulse flow, and all flow settings.

This range is at the higher end of the home use spectrum. Few machines can reach 96%.

Noise Level

SimplyGo’s noise level while at pulse setting is identical to that of the SimplyGo Mini. At 43 db the machine is making a slight hum.

It is slightly quieter than many other portable oxygen concentrators – usually make a noise of 45 db.

Screen and Features

There a small screen at the top of the machine. While easy to read, it is far from what other devices are having – bigger size and touch functionality.

There are several buttons to the left and right of the screen – power on/off, alarm silence, mode select, plus/minus select.

Size and weight

SimplyGo’s dimensions are 11.5 in/29.2 cm width, 10 in/25.4 cm height and 6 in/15.2 cm length. They are significantly bigger than the Mini model.

The weight is 10 lb/4.5 kg, and it is much lighter than similar products.

Working Time

SimplyGo’s Lithium Ion battery can power it for 3 hours in pulse mode and a little less than 1 hour in continuous mode. If taking a POC machine on the go is a requirement, I suggest you consider an ultra portable machine that is designed for longer work time on battery alone.

Warranty

Each SimpleGo machine comes with a two year warranty. But, there’s an option of buying an extended warranty of three or five years.

SimplyGo Mini Accessories

The package comes fully equipped with SimplyGo machine, carrying case, mobile cart, one rechargeable Lithium Ion battery, power cord, accessory bag and user manual.

Philips Respironics have on offer all the included accessories, and additional ones. The accessories that are not included in the package, but still available are battery charger, airline power cord, humidifier pouch and connecting tube.

Summary

As with the Mini, this POC is at the top of the price range. This makes it inaccessible to many patients. Build quality is in line with the best and purity is at a medical-grade level. There are other machines that offer a slightly worse experience but at the fraction of the price. Got example, DEDAKJ’s POC is getting excellent reviews is selling for a much lower price.
